JOSH WINDASS’ life changed when Graeme Murty took charge of Rangers, insists dad Dean.

The English midfielder, 25, played under the former Light Blues boss during both of his spells in charge.

And he went on to score 17 goals for the club after being moved into the middle of the park by Murty during the 2017-18 season.

Now, speaking to Si Ferry on Open Goal, Dean insists the manager’s appointment was a life-changing moment for his son.

He said: “All of a sudden his life changed, in my opinion, when Graeme Murty took over. He played him down the middle.

“Rangers fans were giving him a bit of criticism and rightly so, because he looks like he’s got that attitude where he doesn’t give a s*** but he does.

“He’s never going to go in for 50-50s and smash people, it’s not him. But he’ll go past you and he’s got pace.

“He’s got a good football brain and he’s got a great attitude. All he speaks about is football.

“I’m going to be brutally honest, he didn’t want to leave Glasgow Rangers.

“It was one of those situations where, when he was with Graeme Murty, all of a sudden the shackles came off.

“He started playing in behind and he got 18 goals, every week he’s scoring goals.

“He’s playing for the biggest club in the country by the way and I’m a little bit envious really, going wow, I wish I was playing again and playing for Glasgow Rangers.

“I loved going up there, the city is a great city to live in. He had a lovely house in the west end.

“I always say to him that it’s not about the money, the better you play then the more you’ll earn, and I’m quite sure he’ll go on and play in the Premier League in England.

“He needs the right club at the right time like he had under Graeme Murty.

“Graeme Murty got the best out of him. Graeme Murty did a fantastic job.”
