THERE was certainly no love lost when Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall went head-to-head in Edinburgh on Monday.

And somehow, Andy Halliday has unwittingly ended up right at the heart of the drama!

Taylor and Catterall will get back into the ring for their hotly anticipated rematch in Leeds on April 27.

The bout comes two years on from the Tartan Tornado’s controversial win over Catterall in Glasgow.

It’s been billed as ‘Hate Runs Deep’ and things certainly got heated when they two fighters went head-to-head for the first time.

Catterall put his hand on Taylor’s NECK while the Scotsman shoved his opponent away as things threatened to boil over.

Prior to the fight being officially confirmed last week, Catterall had made several Hearts-related social media posts– apparently in an effort to noise up Taylor, who is a well known huge Hibs fan.

But things took a bizarre twist before yesterday’s explosive press conference – when ANDY HALLIDAY ended up at the centre of things.

A few hours before the face-off, Catterall took to X, saying: “Big shout out to Andy Halliday for the gifts for the press conference today 🤜🤛

The press conference itself came and went without a hint of what Catterall was on about – but it soon became apparent later.

That was when the Chorley-born fighter posed for pictures wearing a HEARTS top.

Taylor subsequently said: “He’s too stupid to wind me up. Apparently he’s going to turn up as a Hearts fan. I’m more of a Moto GP fan!”

“Apparently his manager knows Andy Halliday but I couldn’t care less. Lee McGregor is one of my best mates and he’s a Jambo. I don’t give a s*** who supports who.

“I go and watch Hibs now and again. This isn’t Hearts v Hibs or Scotland v England. It’s Taylor v Catterall.”

Meanwhile, Catterall’s manager Sam Jones claims the Jambos have invited Catterall to the Edinburgh Derby at Tynecastle next midweek.

He revealed: “Andy is a friend of a friend and he arranged to send us the shirt.

“The club have invited us to the derby as well.”

But just who is this mysterious ‘friend of a friend?’

Well, as luck would have it, Halliday himself was appearing on Clyde 1’s Superscoreboard last night alongside SunSport’s Roger Hannah and host Gordon Duncan.

And the pair couldn’t resist asking Halliday – who’s currently on loan at Motherwell from Hearts – what on earth was going on!

And Halliday revealed that it’s ultimately a former RANGERS teammate who’s to blame for the Jambos-themed troll!

Duncan asked: “I was wondering how you’ve become embroiled in this?”

Halliday said: “Very innocently!”

He then added: “I’ve been embroiled into a scandal from a very, very innocent incident.

“Basically, Josh Windass messaged me last week saying a good friend of his is Jack Catterall’s promoter and he’s wanting to wear a couple of Hearts strips in the press conference against Josh Taylor so he asked if I could send a couple of strips down, I said ‘no problem’ and sent them down to Josh (Windass).

“And Jack Catterall’s given me a shout-out on Twitter.

“So now I’m anti-Scottish, anti-everything!

“That is exactly what happened!”

Taylor and Catterall will face-off for the second time as their press conference tour heads to Manchester.
